What is the most expensive car in the world?

Everybody wants to build a supercar, and a lot of people think they can, but very few actually manage to do it.
One of those few is Christian von Koenigsegg, the engineer and owner behind the Koenigsegg CCXR Trevita, the world’s most expensive car.

$4.8 million Koenigsegg CCXR Trevita

Coming in at $4.8 million this car is one to rival all others. But you may be wondering why are super cars like this needed? Well, without them the standard for all other cars would never improve, there is always a need for something newer, better, classier and expensive for other cars to aspire to. And this car definitely leads the way.

“Trevita” in Sweden means “three whites” and that is exactly what was originally intended. Instead Koenigsegg only created two white carbon fibre super cars in 2009 because they were very difficult and time consuming to hand make, but this also made them more exclusive.

Known as a ‘diamond on wheels’ on the Koenigsegg website, this car ‘sparkles as if millions of tiny white diamonds are infused inside the visible carbon fiber bodywork.’

The car is completely hand built, fully carbon fiber with a carbon fiber monocoat. The detachable hard top roof looks like it couldn’t be stored anywhere but it actually slides right into the front of the car. For a super-car it surprisingly has the largest luggage space out of any of them, with the Porsche 911 closest in storage size.

The Koenigsegg CCXR Trevita is also unique in that it has two completely different looks. With the top on, it looks like a coupe but slide that roof off and it is a true sports car with two speedster humps and very low drag.

Going 0-62 mph in 2.9 seconds, and a top speed of 254+mph this isn’t the fastest car in the world but it sure is up there with the best of them.

The engine is a custom built aluminium V8, 4.8L with twin super charger and weighing just 198 kilograms means this car is very light. With 1018hp this car has a bit of a kick when you push down the accelerator.

This is a road car that you can drive like a race car as one of the owners Floyd Mayweather showed as he presented his $4.8 million prize car around town.
