London Supercar Season 2016
No matter what time of year you travel to London there will always be supercars cruising around the London streets. But, if you want to see a mass of supercars such as the Bugatti Veyron or a Lamborghini Aventador then the Supercar Season is the time to go.
‘Supercar Season’ takes place in London every year between the months of June to August. Wealthy Middle Easterners travel to London to escape the heat in the Gulf States taking with them their super cars, which is why so many Middle Eastern number plates can be seen.
The event has been taking place for years but took the name ‘Supercar Season’ back in 2011. Some media sites called the event ‘Ramadan Rush’ due to the Ramadan calendar falling on 1st August. But car enthusiasts still refer to it as Supercar Season.
For motor enthusiasts this event is the Holy Grail.
Many enthusiasts will recognize the name Turki Bin Abdullah as the man with the golden fleet. In 2015 the Saudi Prince shipped his own gold-plated super fleet from Saudi Arabia to London. The fleet of supercars included a Lamborghini Aventador SV, Rolls Royce Phantom Coupe, Bentley Flying Spur and a six-wheeled Mercedes G63 with a total value of well over £1,000,000. It is clear to see that this man is exceptionally wealthy as he can be spotted walking his pet cheetah out of one of the cars.
So where do you go to see these supercars?
They tend to be found lined up on Park Lane and around Hyde Park, brazenly parked on double yellow lines racking up hundreds of pounds worth of parking tickets. But for the owners a few parking tickets is not an issue with some revving their engines and sprinting from a standing start earning penalties of up to £1000 just for some attention.
This year has seen cars such as the Lamborghini Huracan, McLaren P1, Porsche 918 Spyder and the Ferrari 488 GTB to name just a few. So if you want to see your dream supercar make your way to London and you will probably spot it cruising by.
